Delete Your Nearify Account

You have the right to delete your Nearify account and the personal data associated with it. This page explains how account deletion works, what data is removed, and how to submit a deletion request.

How Account Deletion Works

When you request account deletion, Nearify initiates a process to permanently remove your account and associated personal data from our systems. Deletion requests are processed within 30 days of receipt. Once your account is deleted, you will no longer be able to sign in or recover your data.

What Data Is Deleted

Upon successful deletion of your account, the following data is permanently removed:

Profile information: Your name, email address, profile photo, bio, interests, and skills.
Messages: All direct messages you have sent or received within the app.
Event participation records: Your event join history, check-in records, and event-specific activity.
Account identifiers: Your user ID and any associated authentication tokens.
Usage data: App interaction data linked to your account.

What May Be Retained

Certain data may be retained after account deletion where required by law, for legitimate business purposes, or to protect the safety of our users:

Fraud prevention records: Information used to detect and prevent fraudulent activity may be retained for a limited period.
Security logs: Records of account activity related to security investigations may be preserved as necessary.
Legal compliance records: Data that we are required to retain under applicable law, regulation, or legal process.

Retained data is kept only for the minimum period required and is not used for marketing or general product purposes.

Deletion Timeline

Account deletion requests are processed within 30 days of receipt. During this period, your account will be deactivated and no longer accessible. After processing is complete, your personal data will be permanently removed from our active systems. Some data may remain in encrypted backups for a short additional period before those backups are overwritten.

Use the subject line: Delete My Nearify Account

Please include the following information in your message:

Name: The name associated with your Nearify account.
Email address: The email address used to sign in to Nearify.
Reason (optional): You are not required to provide a reason, but any feedback is appreciated.

We will confirm receipt of your request and notify you when the deletion is complete.
